Description

Plot of land, for urban construction, with a total area of 3,616sqm. Great investment for your business. Be sure to visit. Zone and community description: The village of Tortosendo (formerly Tortozendo) is a Portuguese parish and one of the 31 parishes in the municipality of Covilhã, with 17.75 ksqm in area and about 5 624 inhabitants (2011 Census), of which 20.52% have more than 65 years and 14.70% will be children and adolescents (under 14 years old). Its population density is 317 inhabitants / ksqm. The first signs of the presence of Man in this region go back to the turn of the 7th century to the 8th century, when the Goths passed through the Iberian Peninsula. It is believed that the birth of the village predates the formation of the nationality, attributing to D. Afonso Henriques the repopulation of the region. As for the origin of topononymy, it will come from "Troitosendo" ("Tructesindus"), a word of Germanic origin, widely used in documents of the early days of the monarchy, with the meaning of military expedition, supposing that, at the time of Sancho I de Portugal, here a knight or head of military forces had quartered. It would be the corruption of "Tructuzendo", proper name of Godo man, that would have given him his name. 2 It is true that in 1320 "Tortuzendo" already existed as a population cluster, referred to in the "Catalog of all churches, commendations and monasteries that existed in the kingdoms of Portugal and Algarves in the years 1320 and 1321 with the capacity of each of them". It appears from this document that Pope John XXII for a Bull dated May 23,1320 had granted D. Dinis, for two years, the tenth of the kingdom's ecclesiastical rents. It is in this document that there is a reference to "Tortuzendo", with two churches: Santa Maria and São Miguel. Although there are no statistical data prior to 1615, on this date Tortosendo already had 600 inhabitants and 150 dwellings. Maria do Resgate Esteves da Fonseca e Carvalho was created 1st Viscountess of Tortosendo by D. Luís I of Portugal. In 1927 Tortosendo was elevated to town, the year in which its electricity network was inaugurated. Thanks to this progress, mechanical looms, moved to other forms of energy, have given way to electric looms, leading to improved production, in quality and quantity. From that date on, progress accelerated, with some of its factories gaining fame in the country. Entrepreneurs and, to a certain extent, Vila experienced a period of prosperity that lasted until the 1950s. In 1955 there were still 19 wool factories in the village with a total number of 502 looms, 27 shin guards, 8 windmills, 22 winders and 8 warps. The legend of Tortosendo According to local legend, there was a small house in Tortosendo a long time ago where a very good family lived together, but with humble resources. Daily, the mother cleaned, cooked and tended the pot, the father left early in the morning to dig the earth, the children kept the sheep in the pasture, and a daughter, sick and crippled, sad and alone, stayed at home leaning against an old olive tree. One day, this girl saw, dazzled, sitting on one of the lower branches of the olive tree, a very beautiful and beautiful and radiant lady who, smiling, handed him an unknown object and said: "- My daughter, stop your sadness and take this spinning wheel with which you will spend your days spinning. Although sick and crooked, being a friend of helping your parents, you will contribute to the well-being of your family and your example, which will spread, for the progress of your land! " The name "Tortasendo" would have come from this event, which would later give "Tortosendo", with its development of the spinning and textile industry and its devotion to Nossa Senhora da Oliveira.
